Helping People on Their Very Worst Days
This weekend, 7 Disaster Response Volunteers, from the Greater Salt Lake Area Chapter of the American Red Cross, responded to a fire in Midvale, Utah. 31 units were on fire. People lost their homes and everything in them. The volunteers were on the scene working with and helping the people affected. The volunteers offered comfort and help with essential needs like clothing, meals, shelter. The apartment complex owner had some available furnished apartments in the complex, so the families were given a place to stay. The Red Cross provided assistance for clothing, meals and bedding. Residents reported two teenagers were running door to door, yelling and knocking to warn everyone about the fire. No one was injured.
